  9.    not make it to the manual of Ver. 2.15. It also contains other 
  10.    useful information.

  28.    DRAFT Choice is distributed using the Shareware concept.  Shareware 
  29.    is NOT Free and it is not a specific type of Software.  It's rather a 
  30.    means of allowing you to use copyrighted software for a limited 
  31.    period of time (as stated by the author), so that you can decide 
  32.    whether you will purchase the complete, licensed product.  All rights 
  33.    to software distributed as Shareware are reserved by the Software 
  34.    author/developer unless otherwise stated.

  36.    Evaluate DRAFT Choice for 30-days and give copies to your friends for 
  37.    evaluation.  If, after the 30 days, you continue to use the program,

  54.    GETTING STARTED
  55.    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  56.    The information provided below is to help you start the program for 
  57.    your hardware configuration.  For more details about the operation of 
  58.    the program press the F1 (function) key once you have started the 
  59.    program.

  61.    Once installed (see below for installation procedure) DRAFT Choice is 
  62.    started from DOS using the command: 
  63.  
  64.     C:> DC /Option1/Option2/Option3/.....     [ENTER]
  65.  
  66.    where Option1, Option2, etc.  are options specifying the type of 
  67.    memory to use, the type of graphics video adaptor, etc.  For a 
  68.    complete description of these options, please print and consult the 
  69.    on-disk user's manual.

  72.    Ordering Information

  74.    Remember that a shareware copy is an EVALUATION copy that you can use 
  75.    for up to 30 days.  If you continue to use the program, Registration

  92.    Installation on Floppy or Hard Disk:  
  93.    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  94.    Although the program will work if installed on 360k diskettes, we 
  95.    recommend that the program is installed either on a hard disk, or a 
  96.    high density floppy diskette, since this will permit the help file, 
  97.    font files, and other auxiliary files, to be available to the user.  
  98.  
  99.    *  If you Install and run DRAFT Choice from a floppy disk, without      
  100.    *  Expanded memory (EMS), or if the /NE command line switch is        
  101.    *  used, and you remove the DRAFT Choice program disk from  
  102.    *  the drive while the program is running, you will get an 
  103.    *  error message and will be instructed to re-insert the disk.
  104.    
  105.    If installing on 360k disks, you need to have at least two 360 
  106.    drives, e.g., A and B.  You cannot install the program on a 
  107.    computer with a single 360 K disk drive and no Hard Disk!  
  108.  
  109.   * Place the DRAFT Choice original diskette in drive A: (or B:)
  110.  
  111.   * Make sure the current logged drive is A: (Type A:, or B:, and 
  112.     press ENTER, if it is not).
  113.   
  114.   * Type INSTALL and press [ENTER].  Then, follow the simple on-screen 
  115.     instructions to install your copy of the program on the desired disk(s) 
  116.     and/or subdirectory.
  117.  
  118.     Note: If you are installing on 360K floppy disks, you will 
  119.           need multiple blank formatted diskettes!
  120.

  122.    On-Disk Documentation
  123.    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  124.    The installation process extracts a file called DC215.MAN.  This is a 
  125.    ready-to-print formatted, User's manual for the program.  
  126.  
  127.    Following the installation, make sure that the DC215.MAN file is 
  128.    indeed on your default directory.  Then, to print this manual: 
  129.  
  130.    (1)  Make sure that the your printer is ON  and there is enough 
  131.         paper in it (the manual is about 80 pages).
  132.  
  133.    (2)  From the DOS prompt, type
  134.  
  135.         COPY DC215.MAN PRN and press [ENTER]
  136.  
  137.         Note that if your printer is connected to a SERIAL port,
  138.         then you need to use the command  COPY DC215.MAN COM1, or
  139.         COPY DC215.MAN COM2 (depending on which serial port your 
  140.         printer is connected to).

  144. A NOTE ON PLOTTING
  145. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  146. The maximum number of dots that can be handled by DRAFT Choice (when 
  147. plotting to a printer), is based on a 360 dpi and 13" max plot width (hex 
  148. density on 24-pin printers).  The string of bytes sent to the printer for 
  149. each line is preceded and followed by 2 bytes (4-bytes total) which are 
  150. needed by the program. 
  151.  
  152. If a user is trying to plot a 16" wide drawing on a 9-pin printer (high 
  153. density), the max number of dots sent is [240 dpi * 16"] + 4 = 3844 dots.  
  154. Some printer buffers, however, cannot handle any more that 3840 dots per 
  155. line and the results, on such printers, would be unpredictable. 
  156.  
  157. If the user wishes to make sure that such a printer buffer overflow will 
  158. not occur, in the example given above, then the width should be set to 
  159. something slightly less that 16" (e.g., 15.95 inches).

  162. A NOTE ON MACROS
  163. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  164. Please, note that macro sequences (Option, Macro) are not saved with the 
  165. drawing file they are created in.  In order to save the macro sequences 
  166. you have created, you need to save the configuration file (File, Config, 
  167. Save Config).  Then, whenever you re-start the program the macros are 
  168. available to you.

  175. Modification/Corrections in Release 2.15a
  176. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  177.   1. The laserjet and deskjet printer drivers were updated 
  178.      to correct a condition where parts of a drawing ended 
  179.      up printed on a second page.  (This behavior depended 
  180.      on the "skip perforation" dip switch setting on the 
  181.      particular printer). 
  182.  
  183.   2. A modification was made to store the current global 
  184.      path in the DC.CFG file, if the File, Config, 
  185.      SaveConfig command is executed. 
  186.  
  187.   3. The program was modified so that it keeps track of FNT 
  188.      (single stroke) and FOT (outline) fonts.  Due to this 
  189.      modification, FNT-type fonts are no longer filled or 
  190.      hatched. 
  191.  
  192.   4. The program was modified to avoid a condition where 
  193.      if a font had not been loaded, subsequent loading of 
  194.      drawings would abort.
  195.  
  196.   5. A correction ws made to the Alter,Style and Option,
  197.      Style dialogs so that they are now synchronized as to 
  198.      what line style is currently selected. 
  199.      
  200.   6. All Tickmark selection names were preceded with a 
  201.      number to avoid conflicts with the O.K. dialog button. 
  202.  
  203.   7. The limit of vertices that could be used for defining a 
  204.      complex shape (during a Import, Value file operation), 
  205.      was increased to 200. 
  206.      
  207.   8. In v2.15, deleted elements (which stay in the 
  208.      internal element list, available to the UNDO 
  209.      operation), would be taken into account when using the 
  210.      Image, All command.  In this release, elements placed 
  211.      in the delete/undo buffer are NOT used in the Image 
  212.      operations. 
  213.  
  214.   9. A modification was made to the Image, View dialog, so 
  215.      that the checkmark correctly appears next to the 
  216.      currently used View. 
  217.  
  218.  10. A number of options in dialog boxes were slightly 
  219.      modified to avoid conflict with the O.K., CANCEL and 
  220.      other selection buttons in these dialogs.  The 
  221.      functionality of these options has NOT changed. 
  222.      
  223.  11. A correction was made to the Draw, Text, Setup dialog 
  224.      to re-activate the CANCEL button.  In v2.15, only the 
  225.      Esc key or O.K. button would permit you to exit this 
  226.      dialog. 
  227.  
  228.  12. The generic dialog box manager was modified to correct 
  229.      a condition where using the up arrow to make a 
  230.      selection, from a scroll list, would not permit access 
  231.      to the first item on the list. 
  232.  
  233.  13. The Layer manager module was modified so that Layer 
  234.      names are now always padded to 12 characters to provide 
  235.      some separation between name and color in all Layer 
  236.      dialogs. 
  237.  
  238.  14. A modification was made to make certain the the Pick 
  239.      and Window selection mode icons are synchronized and 
  240.      never appear selected at the same time. 
  241.  
  242.  15. A modification was made so that the Dot/in and V/H in 
  243.      the File, Config, Default dialog box, display the 
  244.      correct information based on the printer device selected. 
  245.  
  246.  16. A modification was made to the Postscript driver to 
  247.      correct a problem where printed images were 1/4 the 
  248.      selected/actual size. 
  249.  
  250.  17. When the selection highlight is in a dialog list, the 
  251.      PgUp and PgDn keys can now be used to scroll the list. 
  252.      (Formerly, only the croll bar could be used).
